Here in Southern California, there is every option you can think of for you big-day – especially when it comes to venue shopping. There are beaches, mountains, cliffs, gardens, villas, city views, and more. With all of the varying options, your wedding can portray any emotion that you desire.
Some brides reach out to us for help finding a venue that is unique. Some want a romantic or intimate feel. There are even some couples that really want a laid-back venue, where the pressure is off and it can just be fun. In addition, there are always couples that want their weddings to feel like an experience, almost an escape from day-to-day life.
We got you covered. Sugarplum is so excited to be showcasing our Top 5 venues in Southern California!
Starting with Ebell of Long Beach. This venue is one of our favorites for so many reasons. Firstly being, the aesthetic. In terms of decor, a major plus for the venue is their abundance of plants. In our recent 2020 Wedding Trends blog, we mentioned that live plants being used as decor for your wedding will be a trend for years to come.
In addition, the details in the venue are incomparable – from the tile on the floor to the gorgeous lighting fixtures in each room. We love everything that is included, especially the chairs. The stunning black chairs that are pictured in the photo above are included with the booking. Ebell also includes an upgraded water goblet, many picture moments, and a stunning bridal suite. Check out our YouTube video (featured below) and see for yourself!
In addition to everything, their onsite team has amazing taste and are amazing to work with.
Oh, and how could we forget? The Catering! The company they use is phenomenal – @treslascatering. As coordinators, we always say it’s nice when you have a great catering company to work with that provides amazing service and food. Our favorites? Definitely the truffle Mac & Cheese and the fish.
Serendipity Garden Weddings
For obvious reasons, Serendipity Garden Weddings is one of our favorite venues. Not only is the venue gorgeous, it has an amazing staff. The look of this Oakglen, CA venue is more of a garden aesthetic, which is great for an intimate and romantic theme. However, the venue is very easy to change up based on your theme. When the roses are in season, there is truly nothing like it. Our team, as coordinators, love that the venue has a luxe barn built in the cases of bad weather.
As shown in the picture above, the venue is quite large, so there are multiple picture opportunities. From rose arch ways, to a stunning cocktail hour, a terrace, and garden for ceremony. If you check our video below, we did a tour of the venue.
Our team always appreciates working with the Serendipity staff. They are truly a well-oiled machine with a lot of experience. Their clients are always very well taken care of and have amazing things to say. Our team at Sugarplum & Co. are dedicated coordinators; however, at this venue we provide a Design Package.
Villa Del Sol D’Oro is located in Sierra Madre, CA. If you have been looking for a location that makes you feel like you’re stepping into another world – it’s here. You truly feel like you are in Italy at this stunning Villa.
The charming grounds showcase many picture opportunities and have two locations to have ceremony. In addition, our team loves where reception takes place – with string lights, a view, long tables, and more. A romantic experience. Similar to Ebell, their catering staff and bar is amazing.
Millwick is the type of venue that will sweep a creative couple off their feet. We LOVE Millwick. The vibe they have is very different from the other venues we have mentioned. It’s very fun and jungle-esk.
The location in the arts district of Downtown Los Angeles. This area has many picture moments outside and indoors as well. We have noticed that Millwick typically brings in couples that are super cool – great style, cool jobs, unique taste. The decor is unique by including live plants, unique wallpaper, a fun bar, a projector screen, and more.
A fun addition to this venue is that you can have a specialized bar menu, seating chart, and more. In regard to the bar, during the rehearsal, the couple can brand the bar with their initials or an image they have created. Featured in the picture below, it is a fun additional activity to do.
DJ-wise, they have an in-house sound system, which is always a plus! Also, they have a 12-hour time block for the venue. Our team always encourages couples to pick venues that give you good amount of time, so you don’t feel rushed.
As mentioned, the venue has a super cool screen. This could play a movie without sound or even a slideshow of you and your partner. Out of all of the venues we love, this is the most creative one!
Similar to Millwick, this venue in Palm Springs, CA brings in a fun and laid-back couple. Palm Springs vibes are not super serious and you can bring in a lot of fun elements. Known for their pool parties, The Ace Hotel has a lot of options for bar, food, and partying the next day. We enjoy doing weddings there, because we know the couple enjoys themselves.
We really like the reception space because it’s indoors, but it’s aesthetic is all windows. In addition, there is one wall where all the doors open and lead to an open space with lights.
Hotel weddings are always stress-free because of the rooms being a walk away. The rooms at this specific venue are very aesthetic Instagram Stories very happy. Timeline-wise it is always a plus to be on property when you are getting ready.
As for picture moments, they have bikes that you can bike around (featured below). Also, Palm Springs has a plethora of options for pictures.
